A "remote" image capture of SRO from the ISS in the afternoon of April
04, 2010:
The image to the left was taken from the ISS as it flew over the Sierra
Nevada Mountains. North is up and east is to the right. The
direction of travel is from left to right. One of the open window
covers of the cupola can be seen in this image. The image on the
right is from Google Earth of the same orientation and at about the same
image scale showing the backbone of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
01/28/08: Here are two CCDInspector views of the performance of my
12.5" RCOS with the Apogee U16M CCD camera.
The field curvature measured here is only 8%. Click on the image
for a full resolution view.
December 2007: I uploaded the March 29, 2006 Total Solar Eclipse
video to YouTube. Click

12.5" RCOS
& STL-11K Lum 5.5
hours, notice all the blooming taking place. The ABG trim pot
needs to be adjusted on this camera.
This is a test image of a
30 minute sub-frame 1x1 Lum filter. The ABG or gain on the
STL-11K is set to high. It needs to be adjusted down to a
level where the blooming will not take place.
This is a 30 minute
sub-frame of a slightly brighter star. The ABG trim pot has
been turned 1/4 turn CCW for greater ABG protection as described
here.
